About Us

The Officers’ organizations cropped up during the 1960s. The multiplicity of the unions based on their grade and scale was an obstacle for the emergence of the Officers’ organization in State Bank. It was during this period that the officers of the Bombay Circle under the leadership of Com. L.V. Subramanian the founder General Secretary and Com. S.K. Mishra, the founder President took initiative and consolidated the officers’ movement in State Bank of India under the banner of State Bank of India Supervising Staff Association (Mumbai Circle) with the jurisdiction of entire Maharashtra and Goa. The formal registration of the Association was done on 25th January 1965. The Association was renamed as State Bank of India Officers’ Association (Mumbai Circle) in the year 1985.

The Association launched an indefinite strike in 1969 when 4 officers were suspended. The four comrades who carried the burden of the cross by facing on the spot suspension have remained as immortal warriors in the history of our movement they are Com V.H. Khedgikar, who rose to the position of the General Secretary of Mumbai Circle Association during the subsequent years. Com. Banker, Com. Sanjana and Com. Fernandes. The strike lasted 17 days and was withdrawn only after the reinstatement of the suspended officers. The 17 days indefinite strike was described by the BBC as the first indefinite strike by the supervisory cadre in the entire world. This was the first of its kind in the Banking Industry in the country.

Our Association is affiliated to All India State Bank Officers’ Federation. The All India State Bank Officers’ Federation is in turn affiliated to All India Bank Officers’ Confederation.
